Answers to commonly asked questions:

Q : Do you accept my insurance?

A : We accept all insurances with the exception of Fallon Healthcare.

Q : Will my insurance carrier require a referral from my Primary Care Physician (PCP)?

A : The need for a referral varies by insurance policy:

  • Masshealth patients must have a Primary Care Doctor at Beth Israel Hospital.
  • If you are a Masshealth or Medicare patient, you do not require a referral.
  • If your PCP is located at the BI hospital, or affiliated with the BI hospital, you do not require a referral if you have BCBS or HPHC.
  • If your insurance card says PPO on the front, you do not require a referral.
  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield
    • Premier Blue policies require a referral
    • Blue Select policies also require a referral to obtain maximum benefit coverage
  • Medicaid/Health Connect/Healthwave
    • Each of the above listed policies requires a preliminary visit to your PCP and a referral to our clinic.
    • Medicaid/Health Connect (paper card) referral requirements are as follow:
    • “Blue” appears in the lower left corner - a completed referral form is required.
    • “Green” appears in the lower left corner – only a referral from your physician is required (you will not need a referral form)

Q : Where are you located?

A : We are located at 1101 Beacon Street in Brookline.  We are approximately a mile west from Kenmore square. We are also very T accessible on the green  (C) line at the HAWES stop.  Take the elevator to the 5th floor. Also, please check out our location page.

Q : Do you offer parking?

A : We have metered parking outside the building.

Q : What should I bring with me to my appointment?

A : Please bring any recent X-ray or MRI films that have been taken of the involved area. Your Primary Care Physician's office may offer to send the images to us upon your request. Additionally, have with you

  • Any other tests or records pertaining to the problem area
  • Any necessary forms.
  • Complete insurance information
  • Any completed paperwork we may have mailed you (patient forms)
  • If under you are 18 years of age, a parent/guardian will need to accompany you unless prior arrangements have been made.
  • Must bring insurance card so that we can have the number on the front as well as the contact information on the back.
  • All WC information and MVA information including claim #s. We also need the claim representative's name, address and phone number. for workman's comp visits, we also need  a contact name of the HR representative at your company.

Q : What are your office hours?

Our office is open from 7:30AM - 5:00pm.   Our operators  are  ready to take your call from 8AM - 5PM.

Q : How long will my appointment take?

A : Initial apointments can take 15-30 minutes.

Q : How soon can I be seen?

A : In most cases, we can see you SAME DAY. Call our office to make an appointment and let us know if you need immediate assistance. We can have you in and out of X-ray, evaluated and casted in a shorter time than going to the emergency room!  If you require surgery, we can usually book it within a week or two.

Q : If I arrive late for my appointment, will I be required to reschedule?

A : We will try our best to accommodate you, but you may be asked to reschedule your appointment. If you need to reschedule for any reason prior to your appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.

Q : Are wheelchairs available for patient use in the clinic?

A : Wheelchairs are located just inside the front door. If none are available when you arrive, please notify one of our staff.

Q : I’ve been receiving treatment/surgery from another clinic. Can I transfer my care to Meeks Zilberfarb Orthopedics?

A: In many cases, the answer is “yes.” Please call us to let us know you are interested in transferring your care. Request that all medical records pertaining to your surgery/treatment be sent to us. Our physicians will review your records. If transferring your care is a viable option, we will schedule an appointment for you.

Q : I’m claiming Worker’s Compensation. What do I need to do prior to my appointment?

A : Please request that your employer or Workers Compensation carrier call us to authorize the visit. Upon approval, we will schedule an appointment for you. Also, if you are claiming WC, we will need some additional information.  We need:

  • The name of the WC company as well as the claim number;
  • The representative's name, address and phone number;
  • The name of the employer and their name, address and phone number;
  • The date of injury;
  • What other doctor you may have seen regarding this injury and;
  • Any notes from their office Any CT, MRI or Xrays you may have had done since the injury.

Q : I was in a car accident and I need to bill my auto insurance or the other person's insurance.

A : No Problem! Be sure to bring in the name of the ins company and the policyholder's name. We will need:

  • The actual claim number;
  • The representative's name, address and phone number;
  • The date of injury;
  • What other MD you may have seen regarding this injury and any notes from their office;
  • Any CT, MRI or Xrays you may have had done since the injury.
